Woeful the soul of Wintertime, when the cold wind blows in the bay
And the dark and gloomy, falling rain sorrows all the day
Grey and heavy blanket moves across the sky
Leaving sun and moon alike hidden from the eye,

Chorus
But Christmas Night brings shining light
The angels bringing joyful singing
In the darkest time of year the light of the love of God appears

Deep in the living forest, beneath the towering trees
Suspended shadows hang in the air, full of mysteries
Everything path is shaded, green and black and brown
Up ahead, the frost and snow falls on higher ground,

Vast the icy waters roll, roll in ocean deep
And the lighthouse keepers toss and turn, troubled in their sleep
Out along the shoreline, crested waves crash down
Echoing through the steely blue, everywhere the sound,
